about us

Who We Are

Our Vision

To assist all nurses to make a fully informed decision when accepting a contract to work in a rural and remote area. Weather you are currently working in a rural area and considering your next contract or you are have been thinking about taking the first step toward working in one of these areas. We want you to enjoy your experience as this type of work can be very rewarding and working in a remote community should be a great memory.

What a great way to see this beautiful and vast country. Whilst getting paid for it.

Our Mission

To cover all aspects of each Rural and remote area, so hopefully there will be no surprises when you get there, such as:

  • what is available in the area.
  • is there a supermarket in town.
  • is there a Doctor at the facility.
  • what type of accommodation will you be staying in.
  • are there rentals available in town.
  • what you need to take and what is supplied.
  • is transport available locally.
  • what questions you need to ask your agency before you go.
  • etc……

All important, not only to make your experience a pleasant one for your first/next contract but, to help the facility and your agency. In the past and still today, a number of nurses have arrived at a rural work place and due to lack of information or not asking the right questions, they have turned around and gone home. Wasting every bodies time and money. Our mission is to help that not happen for you.

Global Presence

Globally there are over 20.7million nurses. source: WHO Int. www.who.int/hrh/nursing_midwifery/en/
There are over 420,000 nurses registered in Australia. This is Current March 2020. source: nursing and midwifery board. www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/About/Statistics.aspx

In Australia only a portion of this figure work in rural and remote areas on a permanent basis and they rely on agency nurses from cities to assist on a temporary basis for a period of time.

Also Many nurses from around the world travel to Australia to either, take up sponsorship’s in rural and remote areas, move to these areas permanently, or travel to Australia for a working holiday.

Responsibility

It is the responsibility of each of us to ensure we know what we are getting ourselves into. Would you buy a house without seeing it first and without doing research about the area? It just makes sense to get as much information as possible before jumping in, right?

Nurses are a dedicated, compassionate and caring group of people. We all are dedicated to taking care of people and for the most part asking nothing in return. In a lot of these rural and remote areas there either is no onsite Doctor or a VMO (visiting Medical Officer) will be available.  With this said, the facility will have a telehealth camera. This means you are responsible for the patient with a doctor on camera support.

It is the responsibility of your agency to inform you where you will be going, what you will be doing and for how long it is also up to you to ask questions. We will try to assist you with that.
